Anthony Richardson feels the pressure at the Colts – will he lead, and can they reach the playoffs?

The Colts signed the highly promising Anthony Richards at QB, selecting the former Florida alumni as the fourth overall pick for the 2023 draft, and he is already feeling the pressure.

The NFL is no place for hiding and Rookie QB Richardson has admitted he is already feeling the heat, as some are tipping him to lead the Indianapolis team to a Superbowl.

The Colts finished last season with a 4-12-1 record and are not expected to mix it with the playoff teams this season.

But that does not ease the pressure on Richardson, as the Colts host the Jaguars in week 1.

The Colts are known to fly through quarterbacks at an alarming rate, starting seven ‘line callers’ since 2019, when Andrew Luck opted to retire, quite unexpectedly.

There is the added pressure of being only the third QB to be drafted in the top five fo the Colts in 25 years (Peyton Manning and Luck).

The talented QB has not had much experience, even at college football, with 24 starts in three seasons for the Gators.

He has been named starter for the Colts as they look to turn around their fortunes., They have no Luck, and no Indianapolis quarterback has won an opening game since George Shaw (1955).

With history and pressure piling weight on his shoulders he said recently, “I know they invested a lot in but I’m not the only person on this team. They invested a lot into other players. They invested a lot in this staff.”

To put this in perspective Manning went 3-13 in his first season and then 13-3 in his second year, winning a Superbowl in his eighth Colts campaign.
