The Cincinnati Bengals have been making headlines lately regarding their star quarterback, Joe Burrow.

Coach Zac Taylor addressed the media on Tuesday, shedding light on the situation surrounding Joe Burrow’s absence from practice.

He stated that contract negotiations are not the reason for Burrow’s unavailability.

In a recent virtual news conference, Coach Taylor vehemently denied any dispute or negotiation breakdown between the Bengals and Joe Burrow regarding a contract extension.

He emphasized that Burrow’s absence is solely due to the injury he sustained.

Burrow suffered a strained right calf on the second day of preseason workouts.

Despite fans’ desire for updates, the Bengals have made a conscious effort to remain tight-lipped about where things stand with Burrows.

Even as the 4 p.m. deadline to cut rosters down to 53 players approached, head coach Zac Taylor remained noncommittal on whether Burrow would return to practice this week.

However, no definitive answer was provided regarding Burrow’s immediate return when asked on Tuesday.

“We’ll see,” Taylor said.

As Joe Burrow focused on his recovery from a strained calf,  Jake Browning and Trevor Siemian competed for the team’s No. 2 job through all three preseason games and Browning emerged as the victor while the seventh-year veteran, Siemian was released ahead of the team’s deadline.

Meanwhile, Recent reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday indicate that the Bengals have decided to sign Will Grier, a former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, to their practice squad.

Grier’s previous NFL experience positions him as a potential contender for the No. 3 quarterback position.

Despite this new addition, it seems that Browning has already solidified his position as the top backup quarterback.

“I feel really good about Jake being the No. 2,” Taylor said.
