What did Colts ask for a Taylor trade, with Dolphins superstar WR on the ‘radar’?

The Jonathan Taylor saga has continued to unplay like a day-time soap opera with the will-he-won’t-he process hampering the Colts in their preseason preparation.

The star RB is a wantaway star in Indianapolis, and the Colts franchise even suggested the Dolphins trading wide receiver Jaylen Waddle for the former Wisconsin RB.

It is reported that odd request was turned down, and Taylor looks set to continue his Colts journey, at least for now.

Taylor had an unimpressive 2022, with injury hampering his progress. In a week 4 loss to the Titans the RB injured his ankle, missing week 5 against the Broncos.

He had an average time between then and week 15 when he suffered a high ankle sprain.

He is on the PUP list but should be included in the Colts 53-man roster set for the Tuesday deadline.

Taylor will probably miss at least four games, before rec overing.

He is a sensational player, especially in the 2021 season is on his final year of his contract and digging in his heels. The Colts do not want to spend huge money on a renewal yet do not want him to leave either, placing a high premium on his helmet.

The Colts management wanted the Dolphins to trade Waddle, ‘plus more’ but the Miami team were not going to go much higher, and the Colts wanted more than the Miami team was willing to offer.

Waddle is seen as a potential superstar in Miami and the former No. 6 pick overall enjoyed a stellar 2021 season with the most interceptions in NFL history by a rookie and follow that up the next year with 75 receptions, eight touchdowns and a total of 1,356 yards per catch, leading the league in the latter.

The Colts are keen on the former Crimson Tide player but believe the Dolphins can afford to give more for a player of Taylor’s calibre.
