$163 Billion number that shows NBA and MLB is no competition for NFL

The market leader in US sports, ‘the proverbial cash kings’, are the NFL, who are worth more than both the MLB and NBA combined.

The 32 NFL franchises are worth $163 billion, and according to Forbes the Cowboys sit pretty atop the standings on $9 billion.

Last place on the 32-team roster is taken up by the Cincinnati Bengals who are still worth $3.5 billion.

The defending Superbowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs are ranked 23rd, worth $4.3 billion.

The NBA is worth around $90 billion while the MLB is only sitting at $10 billion, give or take a few bucks.

The NBA has a few top-tier money teams, including the likes of the Golden State Warriors. The richest team owner is Steve Balmer of the LA Clippers, who finished in 2022 as the richest owner across all sports for the eighth successive year. Balmer made his money from his Microsoft Shares and investments in both Accenture and the LA Clippers.

Balmer, who is worth just shy of $120 billion can buy the entire NBA and the MLB in one day.

The NFL wealth is quite staggering though but trails the wealth of the owners of English Premier League soccer team Newcastle United. The Saudi Arabia Wealth Fund ($320 billion) can buy all the American sports franchises in a New York minute. Imagine that, every NBA, NFL, and MLB team can be purchased by the Saudi Wealth Fund.

The Patriots rank as the second richest NFL team on $7 billion, just ahead of the third placed Giants and fourth-placed Chicago Bears.

The Lions and the Bills join the Bengals as the ‘poorest’ NFL teams.
