NFL legend Brady Poppinga and his family are grappling with an unimaginable loss as their teenage son, Julius Poppinga, succumbed to a severe asthma attack.
The Westlake High School football player, just 17 years old, had been hospitalized last week following a harrowing asthma attack that ultimately led to the devastating collapse of his lungs.
Brady Poppinga donned the NFL jersey for an impressive eight years from 2005 until 2012.
He won Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010 with the Green Bay Packers.
Following his stint with the Packers, Brady’s journey led him to the St. Louis Rams before culminating with the Dallas Cowboys.
Brady Poppinga tied the knot with Brooke Hubbard in 2002. Together, the couple share four children- one of them was 17-year-old student Julius.
Westlake High School community finds itself enveloped in grief following the untimely death of Jr. Poppinga.
Principal Jason Branham shared this heartbreaking announcement in an email sent out to the school community.
“Words can not even begin to describe the immense amount of love, kindness, compassion, humor, athleticism, knowledge, trustworthiness, consideration for others, sincerity, loyalty, and friendly characteristics Julius holds,” Julius’ sister Jasmine Poppinga posted on her Instagram account.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Popping family.
