“Thanks to all the guys who don’t shout between 1st & 2nd serve” Daniil Medvedev to the US Open crowd

Daniil Medvedev, the Russian tennis star, who is currently at the No. 3 spot, has once again garnered the attention of the world as his tricky relationship with the US Open crowd continues.

Recently, Medvedev faced Australia’s Christopher O’Connell at the Louis Armstrong Stadium and beat him in straight sets.

The concluding score was 6-2, 6-2, 6-7 (8-6), 6-2. The No. 3 seed, Medvedev, had a combative rapport with the crowd.

Medvedev won the US Open in 2021 and put up a commendable play against O’Connell. He also engaged with the crowd, who were apparently not supporting him, and was also irked by the crowd in between the plays.

The audience then began to taunt him during his serve, so he switched his focus to them. He then said, looking at the crowd, “Can you shut up?”

“Are you stupid or what?”

A fan was then shown in the broadcast blowing Medvedev a kiss before returning to her seat. He went on to win the match, and side-by-side his rapport with the crowd grew to be a good one.

As the fans booed him, Medvedev kept his cool and said, “Thank you all guys because your energy tonight gave me the win. Because if you weren’t here, guys, I would probably lose the match because I was so tired. I was cramping yesterday. It was so tough on me to play. So I want all you to know when you sleep tonight, I won today because of you,”

“The energy you’ve given me right now, guys, I think it will be enough for my five next matches. The more you do this, the more I will win for you guys. Thank you.”
