Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is just beginning to scratch the surface of his abilities and is already in elite company amongst other NFL signal-callers. Throughout his young career, Tagovailoa has a higher completion percentage than Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Joe Montana, three of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

Tagovailoa has a 65.7 career completion percentage through his first three seasons in the NFL. His ability to thread the needle with a football is one of the biggest reasons why he was selected as the No. 5 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama.

Everything changed for Tagovailoa after his former head coach at Alabama, Nick Saban, decided to bench Jalen Hurts in favor of the aforementioned Tagovailoa at halftime of their 2017 National Championship game versus the Georgia Bulldogs.

Tagovailoa helped the team overcome a 13-point halftime deficit (as a freshman) en route to connecting with then-teammate DeVonta Smith for a game-winning 41-yard touchdown reception.

The Dolphins quarterback took advantage of his opportunity and propelled himself to becoming one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Any time you can find yourself on a list featuring Hall of Fame players and Super Bowl Champions such as Brady, Manning, and Montana, you know you’re doing something right.

Through 34 NFL starts, Tagovailoa has a 21-13 record. The concerns surrounding him have always been more about his durability than his capability. He’s played in no more than 13 games in each of his first seasons as a pro.
