Why did Will Compton retire? All the details as LB hangs up cleats

Linebacker Will Compton, who last put an NFL helmet on in 2001, has announced his retirement.

The former Nebraska student has played for nine years in the NFL with five different teams and twice with the Titans.

The last time he played was in the colors of the Raiders, before spending time with the Falcons on their practise squad last year.

The co-host for a popular Barstool Sports podcast has a promising broadcast career. He left the Falcons after eight days due to his affiliation with the Barstool Sportsbook.

He collected a total of 258 tackles in his career with 210 solo tackles, a sack and three interceptions.

In nine years, he managed four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 12 pass defenses.

The LB went undrafted in 2013, signing for the Redskins, and will look back with fond memories of his glory days, after announcing his retirement on X (formerly twitter).

He enjoyed his debut in 2014 against the Cardinals in week 6 and started 2015 as a starter after an injury to Keenan Robinson.

He finished the 2015 season with a career best 122 tackles, a sack six passes defensed and an interception.

He would go on to start the 2016 campaign for the Washington Redskins, starting in 16 games, and recording 106 tackles, two fumble recoveries and an interception.

He went on to sign one-year contracts at the Titans, Saints, Raiders, and another crack in Tennessee before a final jaunt with the Raiders.

For an undrafted player with little prospect Compton made a decent career in the NFL.
