Yesterday, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías found himself at the center of controversy after being arrested on domestic violence charges.
He was arrested after an incident in the parking lot of BMO Stadium, where Urías and many other luminaries came to watch Lionel Messi and Inter Miami play soccer.
Within minutes of the news breaking, Urías’ Instagram was inundated with comments from fans, many of whom expressed their outrage at the alleged incident.
Comments on Urías’ Instagram ranged from calls for him to go to jail to expressing disgust over raising his hands on a woman.
Take a look at the Julio Urias’ IG comment section:
The 27-year-old pitcher, who is considered a rising star in MLB, now faces serious legal troubles that could potentially jeopardize his career.
The MLB’s handling of Julio’s domestic violence cases is already in progress.
Shockingly, Julio Urias has a troubled history with domestic violence.
In May 2019, the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery following a distressing incident that unfolded in the parking lot of a prominent Los Angeles mall.
Despite the gravity of the allegations, the L.A. city attorney’s office opted not to file charges against him under one condition: Urias was required to participate in a comprehensive 52-week domestic counseling program and commit to a violence-free life for the ensuing year.
However, the leniency shown by the legal authorities did not translate into a clean slate for Urias within Major League Baseball. The league took swift and decisive action by suspending the young pitcher for a substantial 20-game suspension.
