Week 1 of the college football season is officially in the books and it was a week filled with plenty of excitement. After one week, the Georgia Bulldogs have maintained their status as the top-ranked team in the AP poll. The most notable addition to the list is head Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes being ranked at No. 22.

In 2022, Sanders was given a five-year, $29.5 million to leave his head coaching job at Jackson State to join Colorado as the head coach of their football program. He brought his son, Shedeur Sanders, to play quarterback for Colorado. Sanders also convinced five-star recruit and two-way star, Travis Hunter, to follow him to Colorado.

Both Sanders and Hunter made their presence felt in their debut game for the Buffaloes when they traveled to Fort Worth, Texas to face the No. 17-ranked TCU Horned Frogs. Sanders completed 38-of-47 passes for 510 passing yards, setting the school record for passing yards in a game, to go along with four touchdowns.

Hunter took the world by storm in his debut for Colorado. He is currently playing both wide receiver and cornerback for the Buffaloes, which led to him being on the field for 129 snaps. He had 11 receptions for 119 yards as a receiver while adding an interception, three tackles, and a pass deflection on the defensive end.

Colorado wasn’t the only team to be unranked before Week 1 and now finding themselves on the AP Top 25 list. The Duke Blue Devils come in at No. 21 after their incredible performance against the Clemson Tigers, who were the biggest fallers down the AP ranks after one week (previously ranked ninth, now 25th).
