Ricky Williams is a veteran former NFL player, who believes marijuana should be "high" on the league’s priority list for injured players.
Williams was signed as the 5th overall pick for the New Orleans Saints, and the running back turned out for Dolphins (two stints), the Ravens and a campaign with the Toronto Argonauts sandwiched between.
While Williams has acknowledged Roger Goodell and team at the NFL is heading in the right direction, he wants them to go one step further and allow the use of marijuana after games.
With 5 prior suspensions and a missed period of playing, he now wants to allow other players some slack.
He legally changed his name to Errik Miron, and recently said," And the truth is, for football players, we do need something because it hurts, and you’re all revved up and it’s hard to calm down, go to sleep."
He continues, "I’d love to see cannabis as being one of those things that the trainer is walking down the aisle and offering to the players."
With over 10,000 rushing yards and 66 touchdowns, Williams is in a good position to assess the injury situation across the leagues and the medical cannabis advocate has said in the past, "[My] personal goals is to elevate the legitimacy of cannabis as a medicine."
The former First-team All-Pro (2002) has been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, avoidant personality and borderline personality disorder and is a former Paxel (anti-depressant) spokesman.
Whether he is high on his own brand, or a revolutionary remains to be seen.
