In a recent episode of the popular podcast “Club Shay Shay,” hosted by former NFL star Shannon Sharpe and NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith, the duo joined the conversation, shedding light on Sharpe’s departure from his previous position as co-host of Fox Sports’ “Undisputed” alongside Skip Bayless.
During their discussion, Sharpe revealed an intriguing anecdote involving actress and social media sensation Tabitha Brown.
Sharpe disclosed that Brown, unbeknownst to him, had predicted his departure and offered words of encouragement that resonated deeply with him.
Brown attributed her foresight to a divine message received through a dream.
“About four months ago, I had Tabitha Brown on the show, and she had no inkling of what was transpiring behind the scenes,” Sharpe began. “After we wrapped up the interview and removed our microphones, she leaned in close to me and shared something truly remarkable.”
Sharpe continued, recounting Brown’s prophetic dream:
“She said, ‘I had a dream last night. God told me, it’s gonna be okay for you to go ahead and do what you need to do. It’s gonna be different, but you need to go on your own.’ Those words hit me like a revelation, and I felt a sense of peace wash over me.”
The revelation proved to be a turning point for Sharpe, who had been grappling with questions about his departure from “Undisputed.
“I was racking my brain, questioning if I had done something wrong, if I had offended someone. I believed I was doing a great job,” Sharpe confessed. “But Tabitha’s words allowed me to be at peace with my decision.”
Just one month after Sharpe’s conversation with Tabitha Brown, he indeed left his position on “Undisputed.”
His next move was announced as he joined Stephen A. Smith to co-host “First Take.”
The partnership between Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless on “Undisputed” had been a prominent fixture on FS1 since the show’s inception in 2016.
However, it came to an end after the conclusion of the 2023 NBA Finals.
The departure appears to be related to the long-standing and sometimes contentious relationship between Sharpe and Bayless. While on-air debates and banter were a staple of the “Undisputed” format, there were instances where genuine friction seemed to surface between the two co-hosts.
On Monday, September 4, 2023, Shannon Sharpe made his highly anticipated debut on ESPN’s “First Take” alongside Stephen A. Smith.
Interestingly, during the broadcast, Sharpe addressed Smith as “Skip” Bayless not once, but twice, perhaps an unintentional nod to his former co-host.
