“Ready to go” Bengals star QB Joe Burrow about him being ready for Week 1

After suffering a calf strain over a month ago, Cincinnati Bengals franchise quarterback Joe Burrow states he’s “ready to go” for the Bengals’ Week 1 matchup against the Cleveland Browns after being listed as a full participant on Wednesday’s injury report.

While it never seemed like a long-term injury, the Bengals have taken a slow and cautious approach with their MVP-caliber signal-caller to give him as much time as possible to rest before the start of what the Bengals hope is a long season.

The Bengals have won 10-plus games and been to the AFC Championship Game in each of the two past seasons with Burrow under center, also winning the AFC North Division in both seasons.

Last season, Burrow earned his first career Pro Bowl nod to the tune of 4.475 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while providing an additional 257 yards and 5 touchdowns through the ground.

Before the injury, Burrow and the Bengals had been discussing a contract extension to keep Burrow in Cincinnati for his entire career. When asked about the looming extension, Burrow said “This is where I want to be my whole career.”

With the injury seemingly in the rearview mirror, it is safe to assume that he and the Bengals will resume their negotiations and soon finalize a deal to make him one of the highest-paid players ever.
