Two-time Super Bowl Champion, Chris Jones, the defensive tackle of the Kansas City Chiefs, has come forward and provided clarity about his holdout.
In 2020, Jones signed his four-year contract with the Chiefs, which was worth $80 million.
The talented quarterback spoke to local reporters ahead of a Chiefs charity event for the Ronald McDonald House.

"Opinions are like buttholes. Everyone’s got one and they all stink…you can’t make everyone happy….I’m just asking for a raise."

As per Aaron Ladd of KSHB 41, Jones expressed his positive intention. He said, “I can’t really talk about it,”
“Hopefully it gets worked out”.
“It’s always been my goal to be a Kansas City Chief for life,”
“I could’ve done a hold-in but that would’ve been a distraction. Opinions are like buttholes. Everyone’s got one and they all stink…. You can’t make everyone happy…. I’m just asking for a raise.”
The Kansas City Chiefs will play their NFL season opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.
The defensive tackle was also asked how soon he will be able to join his squad if a mutually beneficial deal gets signed, and regarding the matter, he said, “If a deal gets done, I can be out there tomorrow,”.
After the team formally placed him on the Reserve/Did Not Report list last week during final roster cuts, his holdout is still in progress right now.
Earlier, the general manager of the Chiefs, Brett Veach also said, “He’s a great player, and he wants a big contract,”
“He deserves a big contract, and I don’t think there’s any surprises in that regard. But there’s just some hurdles we have to work through in regards to how we can keep this thing going for the short and long term. But we’ve never wavered on this is a guy that we want to exhaust all of our efforts to get done because that’s how much we think of him.”
The defensive tackle, further explaining his stance said, “How have I let them down?”
“It’s just like when you’re at your job, and you ask for an extension — you ask for a raise. You’re not letting anyone down. Who are you letting down for asking your boss for a raise?
“I’ve been keeping in contact with my teammates,”
“I’m still working out every day, still doing similar things that they’re doing in training camp.
