Los Angeles Dodgers star and MVP candidate Mookie Betts was reportedly seen leaving the Miami Marlins’ LoanDepot Park in crutches, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. Harris added that X-rays on Betts’ foot were negative and the team “will see how he’s feeling tomorrow.”

While it sounds like Betts avoided major injury, if he is forced to miss any time it would be detrimental for the Dodgers as they look to finish the regular season strong in preparation for what can be a deep postseason run.

Betts has been the driving engine for the Dodgers all season and has played a huge role in their remarkable season. With an 85-54 record, the team has a comfortable 13-game lead on the rest of their division with only 23 games remaining. They can afford to be cautious with their superstar if they feel they need to be.

Despite the injury to Betts, the Dodgers clobbered the Marlins 10-0 in their road victory yesterday. Betts was removed from the game in the bottom of the eighth inning after experiencing pain in his foot. Before that, Betts was batting 1-for-2 on the day with two walks and a run.

Betts is in the midst of a monster season for the Dodgers. He has a .314 batting average to go with 38 home runs, 99 runs batted in, and 11 stolen bases. Hopefully, he can get back on the field sooner than later, especially for the Dodgers’ sake.
