WATCH: John Daly turns the clock back to 1992 with barefooted field goal in Champions Tour exhibition

John Daly has always been good with balls. Not only has the wildly popular golfer won two majors, but once slammed a 50-yard field goal during a Denver Broncos practice in 1992.

The Wild Thing could well have been an NFL punter, or kicker and the 50-yarder he slammed in 1992 proves this.

To put it in perspective, the longest field goal in Superbowl history was a 54-yard effort by Steve Christie of the Bills, back in 1993. The Cowboys defeated the Bills 30-13, but Christie’s kick will live forever.

And so will Daly’s effort a year before the Cowboys trounced the Bills. Heck, he could have starred in that Bills team.

He recreated that famous kick at this week’s Ascension Charity Classic in St. Louis, and while it was not quite as far as 30 years ago, it was true and straight and done barefooted.

The 1991 PGA Major champion, and the Open Champion in 1995 has made many clutch putts in a long, and often storied career, and showed that he has the accuracy and power to alert the 2024 Draft of his ability. The former Arkansas Razorback will obviously not be eligible, more is the pity for football.

The Wild Thing has once more lived up to his top billing as an out-and-out PGA Tour character.
