“I’m constantly self-evaluating myself” Eagles HC Nick Sirianni after win at Patriots

The Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni feels he may have let the team down by not playing QB Julian Hurts in more preseason games, despite the team making a winning start away to the Patriots.

Sirianni is perhaps being too hard on himself as a win in New England is a win and will go in the record books as such.

But he is more concerned that his offense was not firing on all cylinders, particularly from QB Hurts, as the Philly team managed only 251 yards going forward.

Hurts was not bad, going 22-33 for 170 yards but he was not in the best shape, and looked a little ring rusty.

"I’ll definitely reevaluate some of the preseason stuff next year," he said after the game.

"Maybe I should have played him [Hurts] a series or two this preseason, and I already wrote that in my notes," he critiqued himself.

The Eagles offense can redeem themselves on Thursday when they take on the Vikings, but it seems there is merit in the argument that Sirianni was too cautious in not using his starters more in preseason.

"If I had to do it over again right now, I would day, yeah, I would have played starters one or two drives in the preseason," he added.

The New England QB Mac Jones was more productive than Hurts, in fact he had more yards (316) than the entire Philadelphia team.

But a winning start cannot be sneezed at, regardless of the strength of the pepper in the spice.
