The Los Angeles Rams were able to frustrate DK Metcalf and the Seattle Seahawks in their impressive divisional road victory to kick off the 2023 NFL season. Metcalf got so irritated that he eventually shoved Rams cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon from behind for no reason, resulting in a taunting penalty.

At this point in the game, the Seahawks were trailing 27-13 in the fourth quarter. Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith completed a pass to tight end Colby Parkinson before Metcalf tossed Witherspoon to the ground on the complete other side of the field.
When asked about it after the game, Metcalf stated: “Well, I was blocking. I guess I blocked him a little too hard…”
The one-time Pro Bowler wide receiver is a 6-foot-4, 235-pound specimen of a human being who looks like he was built from a lab. Could it be possible that Metcalf was too strong for his own good at this moment yesterday?
Nonetheless, it was a bad moment in a game filled with plenty of mistakes that Metcalf and the Seahawks wish they could take back. The Rams entered into Seattle as heavy underdogs and defeated them 30-13 on their home turf.
Despite the unnecessary and dangerous hit on Witherspoon, Metcalf wasn’t ejected from the game. However, Metcalf may not be off the hook just yet – could a fine be coming his way?
The Seahawks travel to Detroit next week to face the 1-0 Detroit Lions fresh off of their impressive road victory against the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Rams will head home to host the San Francisco 49ers in their 2023 home opener.
