In the NFL season opener on Thursday, the Detroit Lions pulled off a stunning upset by edging out the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, with a final score of 21-20.
Kansas City’s star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, had his wife, Brittany, present at Arrowhead Stadium to witness the season’s kickoff showdown.
Following the Chiefs’ heart-wrenching loss, Brittany Mahomes took to Instagram to share her game-day attire, captioning the post:
“Gamedays are BACKKKKK.”
While Brittany’s enthusiasm was palpable, the same couldn’t be said for some Kansas City Chiefs fans who found themselves crestfallen by their team’s defeat.
Venting their frustration, fans turned to Brittany’s comment section, expressing their disappointment in the outcome.
Here’s how NFL fans responded:
“Go away.”
“Always the showoff.”
“You must not follow them, gold digger is the last thing she is. How about a loving, supportive wife and great Mom.”
“Homie should pull a Tom Brady asap,” one fan wrote directing at Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s divorce.
“Just soo tacky.”
“Maybe if he was focused on the game instead of the kiss they would have won!! You don’t see any other QB wife needing the attention so badly that she needs a kiss. Let him focus on the game ahead!!”
“Go home butterface.”
“Gold digger season is f**king back.”
“The lions beat your ass, they are for real.”
Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews began their romance as classmates at Whitehouse High School.
As they graduated and embarked on their college journeys, the couple maintained a long-distance relationship.
While, Patrick pursued a football career at Texas Tech University from 2014 to 2017, Brittany was honing her skills on the soccer field, representing the University of Texas at Tyler from 2013 to 2017.
In the 2017 NFL Draft, Mahomes was selected 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs. On July 20, 2017, the Chiefs and Mahomes agreed to a contract, signing four-year, $16.42 million deal, including a signing bonus of $10.08 million.
Throughout their college and early professional years, Patrick and Brittany’s love endured.
After several years of dating, the couple joyously welcomed their first child, a daughter named Sterling Skye, into the world in February 2021.
And, exactly one year later, the couple decided to take the plunge, exchanging vows in Maui, Hawaii.
In May 2022, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews took to social media to share a heartwarming announcement.
“Round 2!” they captioned the family photo, revealing that they were expecting their second child.
And on November 28, 2022, the couple welcomed their son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, completing their family of four.
