The New York Giants were left in tatters over the weekend with a stunning 40-0 record defeat to the Cowboys, and head coach Brian Daboll is pondering his next move.
Dabbol was the obvious fall-guy at the post-match press conference and admitted, “At the end of the day you’ve got to make the decision you think is going to help the team.”
The Giants opened last season with a 21-20 win over the Titans and still made big changes, taking linebacker Austin Calitro and WD Kenny Golladay out of prominent roles.
If they were willing to do such a major reshuffle after a win, imagine the reaction to a record shut-out defeat?
The moves turned out correct in the end, as Daboll led the Giants to the play-offs.
When asked if he will consider a similar readjustment he said, “Again, we evaluate the tape. I’d say, with a critical eye …”
He continued, “You do look at performance in training camp … but are also real with performance in the game … and at the end of the day you’ve got to make the decision you think is going to help your team.”
The Giants face the Cardinals in week 2, a potential slippery slope, but we will have to wait and see if there are major changes to the starting line-up in Arizona.
