In his Monday night debut for the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon, ruining his much-anticipated season.
Head coach Robert Saleh said the team will consider all of its alternatives to fill the roster space.
According to the NFL, the head coach of the New York Jets spoke to the media regarding this matter. He said, “still working through it all”
“It doesn’t have to be this week”.
He further explained and expressed, “Like I said, with Zach and Tim, those are our guys. They’ve been here from OTAs, all the nuance. Sometimes I look at it like it’s… It’s not Madden in the sense that we can just plug and play anybody.
There’s a lot of meetings, a lot of practices, a lot of nuance, a lot of understanding of why things are the way they are that go into it. So, just plugging and playing a quarterback, it’s gonna take time, whoever comes in this building, to figure out what we’ve done over the last six, seven months and to create their identity within the system. So right now, all of our attention is on Zach and Tim to get them ready to play football.”
Zach Wilson will be the New York Jets’ starting quarterback. Tim Boyle was promoted from the practice squad to serve as Wilson’s backup.
Saleh has nothing but incredible words for Wilson. The team’s culture, which was captured in the “Hard Knocks” series this offseason, was given prominence by the coach. They want to preserve the culture of the team primarily.

Saleh stated that he believes in Rodgers’ future but is giving the four-time MVP time to comprehend the issue. Amidst the news that the quarterback might retire after undergoing the season-ending surgery.
Saleh said, “I don’t think there’s anything to say. It sounds cliché, but it’s next man up,”
“Nobody cares. Nobody cares that you’ve lost a player. At the end of the day, Sunday’s coming.”
He further said, “I’d be shocked if this is the way he’s gonna go out,”
“but at the same time for him, he’s working through a whole lot of head space, things that he needs to deal with and that will be the last thing I talk to him about.”
