Will new Operation chief David Stearns be the guy that leads the Mets to glory?

In what is probably the worst kept secret in baseball former Brewers Head of Operations David Stearns will make the move to the Mets.

Hearns is a born and bred New Yorkers and grew up supporting the Mets and it makes sense the highly rated 38-year-old makes the switch.

He is on a media blackout for now, but sources say he is unbelievably happy to join the New York Mets, who sit second from last in the NL East with a 68-78 record this campaign.

They are highly unlikely to make the playoffs but will look to Stearns to lead a revival at the Metropolitans.

The Amazins last won the World Series in 1986 and a pennant in 2015. They did earn a 2022 wild card berth, but for many years it has been doom and gloom in Queens.

Stearns built a solid reputation at the Milwaukee Brewers, also serving as the assistant GM at the Astros.

The former Harvard graduate is known to be stern-faced, firing five of the Brewers’ seven coaches. During his first season at the Brewers, he replaced half the members of the 40-man roster.

He is not known to do half measures and could be just the kick up the Mets pants.

He guided the Milwaukee team to four successive playoffs, from 2018-2021, and after relinquishing the GM role, continued to serve as a team advisor.

He is now a Mets man or will be announced as one soon enough.
