Netflix is appearing at the 2023 Ryder Cup and creating its second season of a golf documentary series titled Full Swing to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of professional golfers both on and off the course. However, they are going to have to do it without having full access to the U.S. Team and their operations.

After speaking with all 12 members of the U.S. Team, Captain Zach Johnson noticed that members of the team were concerned about a film crew following them around. As a result, the team unanimously agreed to keep certain parts of the process off-limits for the Netflix production team.

The Ryder Cup is set to take place at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club just outside of Rome, Italy on Sept. 25. With the U.S. Team looking to end a 30-year drought since they lost won the Ryder Cup on foreign soil, Johnson and the rest of the roster decided having some privacy in the team room would be beneficial and limit distractions.

Johnson stated that the rest of the team “felt like it was best to navigate that week of the tournament in a manner in which the sanctity and sacredness of Team USA is preserved.

Given that this year’s Ryder Cup features Brooks Koepka, one of the players who abandoned the PGA and decided to join the LIV Pro Golf Tour, a camera crew could create unwarranted drama surrounding this topic.
