“Signing a veteran free agent like Carson Wentz or Matt Ryan could be disastrous” David Carr tells Jets stick to Wilson

David Carr believes the New York Jets should stick to Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle as the Jets quarterbacks following the season-ending injury to Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets beat the Bills 22-16 in overtime but lost Rodgers on the first snap.

Wilson, a former number one overall pick in the 2021 draft, was solid and helped the team to a dramatic win at the MetLife Stadium.

Carr, a former 11-year veteran in the NFL believes the franchise should not rush for a free agent and trust the players in their squad. Carr played a season for the New York Giants and picked up a Superbowl ring as a back-up QB, so he knows what he is talking about.

He was the first overall pick in 2002 and the Fresno State alumni played for the Texans, Panthers, Giants, 49ers and back for a final dip at the Giants again.

He recently posted on his X feed, “[The] Jets should stick with Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle at QB: Signing a veteran free agent like Carson Wentz or Matt Ryan could be disastrous."

Rodgers has pumped so much life into the Jets team all preseason, and the New York outfit were confident of a playoff run, and even a tilt at Superbowl glory.

But with Rodgers injury there is a pall of doom and gloom in New Jersey.

Boyle is a seasoned NFL veteran having been in the league for five years, and playing for the Packers, Lions, Bears and now the Jets, almost exclusively in a back-up role. He was released by the Jets this preseason but was quickly re-signed.

Wilson is an exciting prospect, and with Rodgers"s mentorship could go on an be the next big thing in the NFL.

Carr has 14,452 passing yards in the NFL and a passing rating of 74.9.

He is the brother of current New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr, a 36th overall pick (by the Raiders) in 2014.

The Carr"s come from solid football stick with their uncle, Lon Boyett playing tight end for the Raiders in 1978.
