“We’re Rolling with Zach” Jets coach Saleh on Zach Wilson going to Start in Place of Injured Aaron Rodgers

The New York Jets have their next man up and it is quarterback Zach Wilson.

Following Aaron Rodgers’s injury, head coach Robert Saleh has mentioned that the team will be focusing on the next big game which is against the Dallas Cowboys.

Coach Saleh had expressed great concern over Rodgers’ Achilles tear injury.

According to the NFL, he earlier said, “I don’t think there is anything to say,”

“It sounds cliché, it’s next man up. Nobody cares, nobody cares that you’ve lost a player. At the end of the day, Sunday is coming. We’ve got to put our best foot forward. That’s the harsh part of the business. I think guys understand that.”

He also mentioned in terms of team spirit regarding Rodgers, “But his presence, his words… Like I said, he’s as much a football coach as he is a player, and just having his presence, his thoughts, his words and his leadership, I think anyone would want that.”

The New York Jets were able to secure their win over the Buffalo Bills. Now, the Jets have put all their focus on their starter Zach Wilson. According to New York Jets, the head coach Saleh said, “I want to make it very clear — Zach is our quarterback,”

“We have a lot of faith in Zach, and we are really excited about this opportunity. We are rolling with Zach, and we are excited for him and this opportunity he is going to get”.

Wilson took over for Rodgers in the first quarter of Monday night’s game. He also assisted the Jets in defeating the defending AFC East champions as well.

Wilson concluded the game with 14 passes for 140 yards, one interception, one touchdown, and a throw to wide receiver Garett Wilson which resulted in a touchdown grab.

Wilson regarding the game said, “My job was to step up and be as efficient as I can,”

“There were a lot of emotions, Week 1, opening day. I’ve tried to learn from this guy but be ready to go. Stay calm and perform.”

The quarterback was selected in the 2019 NFL Draft as the No. 2 overall pick and has started 22 games.
