The New England Patriots head Coach Bill Belichick even at the age of 71 is not planning to retire and there is a perfect explainable reason for this.
A standoff between Belichick and the late Don Shula stems from a comment made by Shula during the Spygate scandal. Now, the Patriots’ coach Belichick is not considering not retiring so that he can outdo Shula’s all-time records.
In the Dolphins Talk podcast, Christopher Price of the Boston Globe talks about why Belichick will not retire until is surpasses Shula’s all-time wins list. When questioned why he was planning to do that, Price answers the Patriots head Coach wants to get back at Shula for criticizing him during the 2007 Spygate scandal.
In the Podcast hosted by Mike Oliva, Price commented on Belichick, he said for Belichick,
“If I am not able to whip you off the books with another perfect season, I am planning to do the next best thing, I’m going to take your all-time wins record.”

This ongoing feud came after the comment made by Shula back in 2007, He said,
“The 2007 Spygate scandal thing has been able to diminish what they’ve accomplished, you would hate to have that attached to your accomplishments. They’ve got it.”
As of now, the books show Belichick has 329 wins counting the playoffs, and 298 in the regular season. This is less in number as compared to Shula’s records which are 347 wins, including the playoffs, and 328 in the regular season.
