Recently, Philadelphia Phillies’ star Bryce Harper found himself ejected from a game against the St. Louis Cardinals after an act of frustration during the third inning. Harper’s ejection came right after he struck out against pitcher Zack Thompson.
The moment occurred when Thompson used a slow curveball to get the better of Harper, ending the third inning. Frustrated by the outcome, Harper reacted by tossing his bat from the batter’s box, sending it flying up the third-base line into foul territory. The bat landed approximately 75 feet away, right in front of the Phillies’ dugout.

The plate umpire, Alex Tosi, wasted no time in ejecting Harper from the game following the bat toss. Harper, clearly upset, exchanged words with Tosi as he left the field. It’s worth noting that the Phillies were in the lead, 4-0, at the time of the ejection. Harper had even contributed to the lead by driving in a run in the first inning with a fielder’s-choice grounder.
With Harper’s departure, Alec Bohm moved from third base to take over at first, and Edmundo Sosa entered the game to fill in at third base.
Even though Bryce Harper got kicked out of the game, it’s essential to recognize how well he’s been doing in baseball lately. Just a few days ago, the 30-year-old hitter achieved something very special. He became one of only 18 players in MLB history to get 1,500 hits and hit 300 home runs before they turned 31 years old. This shows how amazingly good Harper is at baseball and how much he’s added to the sport.
