Saban’s decision to step away from coaching was seemingly hinted at during the Tide’s lackluster performance against South Florida.
“I would put it to you this way. I wouldn’t be surprised if this his last season,” he said. “Nick’s worked very hard.
He’s given it everything he has. I don’t know a human being that is more committed to doing things the right way every day no matter what, and that’s exhausting.
And his standards for the program are – he just doesn’t compromise. He holds himself to a standard that is just incredible.
And so, I’d love to see him be able to relax more and live more and enjoy the fruits of his hard work.”
The coach opted to embark on his first-ever European vacation with his wife Terry over the summer.
