“Not a bad team” Edge Rusher Matthew Judon about the Patriots Despite 0-2 Start

After another disappointing loss, the New England Patriots are going back to the drawing board. However, Patriots edge rusher Matthew Judon thinks the team has already discovered the root of their problem. "We just got to play how we play in the second half from the first play," Judon told Boston.com.

The Patriots have gotten off to slow starts in both of their losses to start the 2023 regular season. They faced a 16-0 deficit in the first quarter of their Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles before losing 25-20. The offense made great halftime adjustments after scoring zero points in the first half and the defense didn’t allow a second-half touchdown.

Week 2 was more of the same for the Patriots against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins took a 17-3 lead to halftime, moving the ball down the field with ease on offense and containing the Patriots offense without any issues. Then, the Patriots held the Dolphins offense to just one second-half touchdown en route to scoring two of their own in a 24-17 loss.

Judon, the anchor of the Patriots’ defense is a firm believer in his team despite the early-season shortcomings. He said the Patriots are "not a bad team," but also highlighted that "We [they] can’t wait until we’re [they’re] down 17, we can’t wait until we’re down 13 to try to make a comeback."

Luckily for Judon and the Patriots, they face a familiar foe in Week 3 that they have had no trouble beating in recent years. The team heads to MetLife Stadium to play against the New York Jets, whom they have defeated in 14 straight contests between the two.
