“It’s about the will of the player”- Giants head coach Brian Daboll Gives Power to the Players in Massive Comeback Win

After being humiliated on national television on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in Week 1 against their divisional rival Dallas Cowboys, things weren’t looking much better for the New York Giants in the first half of Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals. After trailing 20-0 to the Cardinals, the Giants pulled off a spectacular 31-28 comeback win in epic fashion.

The ferocious comeback led by Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was the historic franchise’s largest come-from-behind victory in the Super Bowl era. After the game, Giants head coach Brian Daboll was asked what was said/done at halftime to jumpstart the second-half comeback and he made sure to give the players their flowers.

“I think it’s all about the will of the player,” said Daboll. After allowing 60 unanswered points to start the season, Daboll and the Giants had to dig deep within themselves to block out all the noise and they did just that.

Jones and the Giants offense could do no wrong in the second half. Jones completed 17 of his 21 pass attempts in the second half for 259 yards and two touchdowns while adding 58 yards and a touchdown through the ground on eight carries, propelling the Giants to outscore the Cardinals 31-8 in the second half.

While crediting the players on a hard-fought win and their willingness to compete for four quarters, Daboll was quick to point out that the team made life harder than it had to be for themselves. “It was good to get this win. We made it hard, I’ll tell you that.”

There is plenty of work to be done, but the Giants reminded everyone why they made the playoffs last season in the second half of their impressive comeback win in Week 2. Now, they face a quick turnaround when they head to Santa Clara to face the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night.
