The New York Jets faced their first loss without their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers when they played against the Dallas Cowboys.
Zach Wilson, the New York Jets starting quarterback threw three interceptions in the game which resulted in their defeat and the score was 10-30.
Wilson’s performance was far from the sole culprit in the Jets’ blowout loss. He and his head coach saw positives in it. According to the NFL, Wilson regarding his position as a starter said, “Yeah, absolutely man,”
“I feel like I’m seeing it well, I really do. And it’s really unfortunate to show that as an offense, because we’ve got to be better, I need to be better. But we’re right there, and so we’re going to go back, and it’s a long season, we’re going to go watch this film and see how we can improve. Everyone trusts and believes in each other, and we all love each other, so we’re excited for the challenge.”
Zach Wilson concluded his game with three interceptions, one touchdown, and three picks, and his quarterback rating was 38.1. Wilson achieved a great feat with Garett Wilson which was a 68-yard touchdown in the 2nd quarter.
The head coach Robert Saleh expressed his opinions regarding the game and said, “Up until we had to force it, I thought he did a really nice job,”
“He had the strike route to Garrett for that big touchdown, I thought he did a really nice job at the end of the half moving the chains, getting us some points. It’s just like I said, that team, when you have to get into a dropback game with those guys consistently, it’s not going to be pretty.”
Further explaining the quarterback’s position, “I don’t know if we gave (the offense) much of a chance,”
“Defensively, we just couldn’t get off the field on third down today, had our opportunities. Give them credit, they were efficient, they were ahead of the chains and when we did catch them in third-and-long situations they were still able to capitalize.
“We just didn’t give ourselves a chance defensively, to get off the field, to give our offense a chance to get any kind of rhythm going.”
Wilson further said, “Not good, not good, and I want to say the biggest was probably just not being in third and manageable,”
“Just not putting us in a good position, me not putting us in a good position to play for third-and-short, because I think that’s where you’ve got to be in this league to be successful, to keep drives alive, and score. I think those guys did a good job of converting, and you saw what it did to our defense. You get tired when you’re on the field that long, and we can’t go three-and-out, we can’t do that to them, and we’ve got to give them a break and sustain drives.”
The New York Jets now have a season score of 1-1. Saleh is convinced that the Jets are rolling with Wilson. He also emphasised on Sunday that they can’t let things start to go awry.
