I’ll have to be better; we have to be better” HC Sean Payton citing communication issues after Broncos lose to Commanders

There is talk of a new dawn in Denver but for the Broncos it was a case of the same miscommunication issues coming back to bit them on the rear, with a disheartening 35-33 loss to the Commanders.

The Broncos looked to have the week 2 encounter sewn up, leading 21-3 but a poor offense could not capitalize on a host of opportunities.

Quarterback Russell Wilson was sacked twice as the Broncos lost their second successive game, after going down 17-16 to the Raiders.

Two points in this last defeat, one point difference in week 1. It could have been so different for the AFC West team. Luckily the Chargers also lost, while division rivals the Raiders and the Chiefs have also been on the losing side this campaign.

There is hope for Payton and his team this season.

"There were a number of drives where we were late with personnel, getting out of the huddle took a while," he admitted after the game, citing miscommunication as a chief concern.

"That has to change. We had to burn timeouts in the first half, and I’m not used to doing [that]. We have to be better," he said frankly.

The Broncos wrist band issue has bucked up again.

In a nutshell Wilson is not keen on a wristband with plays on it, while the Likes of Geno Smith at the Seahawks uses one, as did the legendary Tom Brady.

Wilson is apparently resistant to a wristband, while Payton is for it, and this could lead to a power struggle between QB and HC, not a good position when you are 0-2.

"I thought we’ve done a really good job of getting in and out of huddles," Wilson said, in contrast to Payton’s message to the media.

The communication between HC and Wilson and the rest of the offense better improves as they next face the unbeaten Dolphins.
