The Los Angeles Rams made their running back Cam Akers inactive against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Rams however lost to the 49ers and the score was 30-32.

According to Fox Sports, the running back was on a trade deal.

Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke about the status of the running back at the press conference which was conducted after the game.

He said, “I’m always going to make decisions that are in the best interest of our football team. I have tremendous respect for Cam Akers, but I felt like for our football team today and in this game and as we move forward, that was going to be the best decision for us.”

“I think there is going to be an opportunity to see what that looks like moving forward, but it’s not going to be a back-and-forth thing,”

“He and I have had great dialogue and we’ll see what happens over the next couple days”.

The running back, Akers had requested a trade last season. Rams initiated the trade talk but Akers remained with the team.

In contrast to last year’s circumstance, McVay claimed that “this is different” and that trading Akers was “in the best interest of our football team.”

Akers was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Akers is now in his fourth season with the team.

His career stats include 360 carries for 1,443 yards and ten touchdowns.
