Logan Thomas Injury Update: TE taken off the field after nastiest hit of the year

Logan Thomas, the seasoned tight end for the Washington Commanders, unfortunately, took a hit from the injury bug once more as he suffered a concussion during Sunday’s showdown against the Denver Broncos. Thomas did manage to secure a touchdown pass but got a hard hit to the crown courtesy of Broncos’ defensive back Kareem Jackson.

Following the hit, Thomas found himself on the field, receiving immediate attention from Washington’s medical crew. The tension on the field escalated, resulting in a bit of a skirmish between the two squads.

Thankfully, Thomas could pick himself up before trotting over to the sideline all on his own. He was promptly rushed into the medical tent for a thorough concussion evaluation.

“You know, he’s a guy that we wanted to be careful with first and foremost,” Rivera had said in the season earlier. “So the thing that we’ve gotta be aware of is just he is an older guy. He is coming off an injury. Yes, it was two seasons ago, but you can’t be too careful, especially in this situation and in this offense knowing just how vital the tight end is to this offense. You know, we’ve gotta be very smart about that.”

The verdict came in early in the second half, with Washington officially ruling Thomas out for the remainder of the game. The road to his comeback would hinge on him successfully navigating the NFL’s rigorous concussion protocol, which would be decided before the Commanders squared off against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2.

During Week 1, Thomas emerged as the favoured target, grabbing eight passes in total—more than any other Commanders receiver. His performance amounted to four receptions for a decent 43 yards. On the fateful day of his injury, he had already contributed two catches, covering 22 yards and that all-important touchdown.
