A cloud of mystery shrouds the family of Sergio Brown, a former England Patriot, following the disappearance of the ex-NFL player and the discovery of his mother, Myrtle Brown’s deceased corpse in an Illinois creek.

On Saturday, family members raised concerns when they were unable to establish contact with Sergio Brown and his mother, Myrtle Brown. Alarmed by this, they promptly contacted the authorities, prompting a missing persons search, as reported by FOX 59.

Later that very same day, the family made a gloomy discovery. Myrtle Brown, aged 73, was found unresponsive in a creek near her residence. Subsequently, she was transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The authorities are investigating her death as a potential murder case.

Sheila Simmons, the sister of Myrtle Simmons-Brown, disclosed that her last conversation with Myrtle took place on Thursday, September 14. She expressed her deep concern, saying, “We’re going to find out what happened because it’s not normal for my sister to not answer her phone, not to respond to text messages. People have been reaching out to her since Friday. No one was able to reach her.” She added, “Now, I got the call this morning saying that she’s missing, so immediately I came out here and find out my sister is dead.”

Simmons further noted that upon returning to Myrtle’s Maywood home, she observed signs of disturbance, as reported by FOX 59.

Sergio Brown’s family members are concerned about his whereabouts as he has not been in contact with them.

In 2010, Sergio Brown, who was a standout at Notre Dame and hails from Maywood, began his NFL career by signing with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent. He spent seven seasons playing for different teams like the Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills. His final NFL game was in 2016.
