Deion Sanders could be regarded as the greatest athlete in American sports history with the legendary player spending 14 seasons in the NFL and 9 campaigns in the MLB – while also shining at High School Basketball.
“Prime” could probably have won the Olympics for rowing, the UFC light heavyweight title, the pong frat house beer drinking contest and just about anything else that screams US sport.
When asked what the most difficult part of any of his sporting prowess was, he told Shannon Sharpe that “hitting a baseball” was the hardest thing he has done in his professional career.
The All-State High School basketball player did not say a game-tying three-pointer hail Mary, nor leaping into the rarefied Texas air when playing for the Cowboys. No sir, he said that smacking a baseball, at any of the Yankees, Braves, Reds or Giants franchises was the most difficult act to pull off.
If Prime says so, then it is so.
Sanders is currently showing off his wares as a football coach of the Colorado Boulders, who have now gone 3-0 after a high-scoring win against Colorado State, clinching a hard fought 43-35 win.
The Boulders have leapt into the top 20 College rankings (19). They next take on 10th ranked Oregon in what will be their biggest game of the season.
Maybe Coach Prime should have his players hit baseballs in practice and leave the easy stuff for the N-zone.
Sanders is a two-time Superbowl winner, a former Defensive Player of the Year (1994) and an eight-time Pro-Bowler.
In the MLB he finished with a batting average of .263 and 39 home runs, with 186 stolen bases thrown into the mix.
