After making a grand debut last week, ESPN continued its unveiling process for the 2023 Monday Night Football season by introducing a new intro and anthem for its weekly NFL telecasts.

This move was met with a positive response from ESPN viewers, showcasing the potential success of the new anthem.

Typically, new things are not immediately embraced with love and adoration. However, there seemed to be a sense of optimism in the air on Monday night.

The anthem received favorable reviews from ESPN viewers, which is a good sign for all parties involved. Of course, not everyone jumped on board right away, but it is worth noting that there were quite a few positive reviews.

It is a common occurrence for people to cling onto the familiar and comfortable, which is why many still long for the days of Hank Williams Jr. and his iconic “rowdy friends” welcoming the audience to Monday night on ABC. Even to this day, there are probably people who advocate for his return, despite the bold reasons why it won’t happen.

In the case of Monday Night Football, however, the anthem has undergone various tweaks throughout its time on ESPN. Beyond the occasional graphics update and the switch from Hank Williams Jr.’s song, there wasn’t much change during the original ABC broadcast.

In today’s world, where reactions are instantaneous, the fact that the new anthem was praised right away is a positive sign. It shows that the decision to introduce a new anthem was received well.
