The Boston Globe has reported that point guard Malcolm Brogdon is angry with his team, and that miscommunication is not helping the matter.
Brogdon has been with the Celtics since July 9, 2022, and was named as the NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner of 2023.
The reason behind his unhappiness lies with the Celtics front-desk after they wanted to trade him to the Clippers, in a three-way deal to acquire Kristaps Porzingis from the Wizards.
The Clippers backed out of the deal, allegedly due to Brogdon’s elbow injury.
The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn speculated that Brogdon could delay his recovery process to get back at the organization.
"It could be somewhat of a protest for being on the trade block … but we’ll see October 2nd … October 3, when their first practises is who’s actually on the floor," the report said.
"Malcom [Brogdon] is the one I’m concerned about, too, because we’ve heard nothing … and he’s angry with the team. So I don’t think communication between the two sides has been fruitful," Washburn continued.
The former Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers player is also part of the 50-40-90 club (2019), achieving a minimum of 50% field goal percentage, 40% three goal percentage and 90% free throw percentage.
The 36th overall pick in 2016, he won the Rookie of the Year in his first season at the Bucks.
