Cleveland Browns running back Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb suffered one of the most horrific injuries in recent memory on national television in the Browns Week 2 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson has reported that Chubb “was in good spirits” after traveling back to Cleveland with the team following the loss.

While Chubb is expected to undergo surgery, Anderson added that Chubb is waiting a little longer before having a procedure done. The goal of postponing the surgery is to let the swelling subside before surgically repairing the knee “with stability and micro repairs and whatever else, in whatever sequence.”

Anderson also reported that Chubb may require two surgeries to fully repair the injury. However, she specified that there have only been “preliminary talks” surrounding this decision.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Chubb has dealt with a major knee injury. In 2015, Chubb was a member of the Georgia Bulldogs and tore the PCL, MCL, and LCL in his left knee while also dislocating the same knee and sustaining damage to the cartilage.

Chubb has a long road to recovery ahead of him, but he’s shown us he is as resilient as they come by rehabbing from his 2015 injury in college to become one of the best running backs in the NFL. His absence is a major loss for the Browns and they will not need to find a way to replicate his production and leadership.

Anderson went on to mention that “Chubb is the soul of the team.” Hopefully, Chubb can return to the field sooner than later.
