The Dan Patrick Show has become one of the most popular sports talk shows in the industry. Dan Patrick, the host of the show, wants everyone to know that while he is knowledgeable in sports and his knowledge of sports helped him to build his business empire, the show is much more than your average sports talk show.
Patrick was recently interviewed by GQ Sports about his career amid his recent announcement that his four-year contract extension with iHeart and Fox Sports Radio will be the last deal of his professional career. During the interview, Patrick highlighted that the goal of his show is to "have a show and talk about whatever’s going on," even if that category falls outside of the sports realm.
"Well, I don’t do a sports show. I do a show. Women will say, ‘My husband has your show on, and you’re talking about things that I actually enjoy or I can relate to.’"
Discussing a wide range of topics from sports, to movies, to parenthood, and everything in between, it’s clear Patrick takes pride in being able to talk about things other than sports on his show.
After leaving ESPN because he felt as though "I [he] didn’t want to color outside the lines" as a radio host just beginning to make a name for himself in his career, Patrick now has the freedom to speak about any topic he wants on his show. He no longer has to bite his tongue and worry about corporate looking over his shoulders and seems to be in a better place because of it.
