According to MLB, regarding the play, Canario said, "It’s surreal. I really have no words,"
"Just to think back, in January I was in a boot and I was on a scooter to move around. And now I hit a grand slam in the big leagues. It’s just a surreal moment."
The third of those home runs marked the Chicago Cubs" 15,000th career home run.
The Cubs also became the third team in League history to accomplish this feat. The other two spots are taken by the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees.
Alexander Canario made the event special by hitting his first-ever home run, a grand slam, to left centre field, clearing the bases in the process.
The other Cubs that hit home runs were Cody Bellinger, Dansby Swanson, and Seiya Suzuki. After a five-game losing streak, manager David Ross was quite delighted with his team"s performance.
“Just relentless all night. I mean we piled on in the end obviously very nice to see some consistent at-bats out there. Story of the night out there for Cannario and that is pretty awesome, getting his first home run, stretched it out for the bullpen. 14 [runs] and air-tight defense, we"ll take that every night".
