Anthony Gargano, a popular radio host in Philadelphia, got into some legal trouble because he started working for a new sports media company called PHLY. You see, before working for PHLY, Gargano hosted a radio show for another company called 97.5 The Fanatic.

The problem is, that Gargano had a contract with The Fanatic, and in that contract, there was a rule that said he couldn’t work for another sports media company in the same area, at least for a certain period of time. This is called a “non-compete clause,” and it’s a common thing in contracts to prevent employees from jumping to the competition right away.

But Gargano decided to join PHLY, and that’s where the trouble began. The people who run The Fanatic didn’t like that because they thought it went against the contract they had with Gargano. So, they sued him for breaking the rules.

PHLY’s CEO, Brandon Spano, said that they wanted to do something different with Gargano while he was still technically working for The Fanatic. Gargano hasn’t been on his Fanatic radio show since September 11 because he’s been busy with PHLY.

PHLY had plans for Gargano to write, co-host shows, and even start a national NFL show that would appear on their platforms in different cities. Spano, from PHLY, explained that they talked to lots of people in Philadelphia and some happened to work for The Fanatic. They didn’t want to harm The Fanatic, but they wanted to do their own thing.

On the other hand Gargano also hosts a national NFL show for Fox Sports. When he started working for The Fanatic, they agreed that this show was okay and didn’t break the non-compete rule.
