The Chicago Bears have put poor back-up quarterback Nathan Peterman through the ringer, releasing him yesterday, only to re-sign him to their 53-man roster today.
The see-saw Peterman affair has been a roller-coaster, but the Former Tennessee and Pittsburgh Panther college player will be happy to be part of another NFL season.
He was signed 171st on the overall pick by the Bills in 2017, and has had spells in Buffalo, three years at the Raiders before joining the Bears last year.
The on-again-off-again nature of pro football is often a revolving door but getting dropped then signed by the same franchise in 24 hours is an interesting call.
He was re-signed on a one-year deal on March 31,2023, then released ahead of the final 53-man roster on 29 August, then signed again three days later, before his dropping yesterday.
The Bears did get their man today, or the man got the Bears – eventually.
He may be ahead of rookie Tyson Bagent in the race to be Justin Fields’ back-up.
The Bears are off to a losing start going 0-2 after losses to the Buccaneers and the Packers in the first two weeks of the new season. They sit bottom of the NFC North and next face the defending Superbowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs away.
