In August 2023, Hollywood icon Kevin Costner was ordered by the court to pay his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, a monthly sum of $63,209 in child support.
This resolution follows a series of legal deliberations and grants Kevin the amount he initially proposed.
The saga began back in July when Kevin was tentatively ordered to provide a staggering $129,755 in monthly child support payments to Christine, the mother of their three children.
However, just a month later, Christine sought to increase this amount to an even more substantial $175,057, marking a significant increment of over $46,000.
During a court hearing, she later adjusted her request to $161,592, relying on the findings of a forensic accountant.
In response to Kevin’s divorce-related developments, NBA Analyst Stephen A. Smith shared his thoughts on the matter in a recent episode of his YouTube podcast.
Smith questioned the need for Kevin Costner to pay extra child support to sustain the lifestyle of his former spouse, asserting:
“If Kevin Costner’s monthly child support enables the children to maintain the quality of life he once provided, why should he have to pay extra so the wife he’s no longer with gets to maintain her quality of life? Y’all ain’t together.”
Kevin and Christine Costner’s love story began in 1999, and five years later in 2004, they tied the knot in Aspen, Colorado. Together, they share three children: Cayden, Hayes, and Grace.
However, their 18-year marriage came to an end when Christine filed for divorce from Kevin on May 1, 2023.
An official statement released on Tuesday by Kevin Costner’s publicist, Arnold Robinson, brought some closure to this legal chapter.
It confirmed that Kevin and Christine Costner have reached an amicable and mutually agreed-upon resolution for all issues related to their divorce proceedings.
This was not Kevin Costner’s first experience with divorce; he was previously married to Cindy Silva. Their marriage produced two daughters born in 1984 and 1986 and a son born in 1988. Cindy Silva received a notable $80 million settlement.
Following his divorce from Cindy Silva, he entered into a brief relationship with Bridget Rooney, with whom he had a son in 1996.
