Patrick Bet-David conducted a one-of-a-kind interview with the legendary Tom Brady at the 2023 VAULT conference. In this exclusive conversation, Brady delved into his college football years, the fierce competitiveness that defined his NFL journey, his approach to leadership, his adversaries, and the driving forces behind his unparalleled success. As he embarked on a new chapter post-retirement, we gain a rare insight into how the G.O.A.T. views this transition to the next phase of life.

Brady offers an inside look at the motivations that fueled his relentless pursuit of greatness and the extraordinary level of competitiveness he possessed to achieve it.

He reflects on the distinctiveness of his era compared to today’s football landscape, saying, “I didn’t have any friends on the other teams. My friends were the guys who were in the battle with me. So, it’s very different in today’s age.”

Expanding on his mindset, Brady reveals, “You gotta create a lot of different emotion to heighten your sense of awareness and focus. For me, anger was good. The more I could create an enemy, the more I wanted to go out and conquer those adversaries.”

When asked about potential disrespect from opponents, Brady’s response is unequivocal: “Did they disrespect me at all? Let’s go kick some f—ing ass!”

Brady’s insights echo his previous comments on the Let’s Go! Podcast, where he elaborated on why he taps into anger on the gridiron. He explained, “I think there’s one emotion that I have to try to find, and that’s anger. Naturally, I would say I’m pretty mellow off the field. But anger is the one emotion that works for me.”

He further emphasized the importance of harnessing this emotion during games, stating, “There’s anger for different reasons, for frustration or disappointment, but anger in the moment, like if you see me in a good mood in the game, it’s a bad moment… You want to go crazy, you know? And I think the more you can envision that, the better.”
