“When did winning not become the main thing?” Jalen Hurts when asked if defenses are playing him differently this season

The Philadelphia Eagles quarter Jalen Hurts may think NFL competitors are marking him differently this season, but believes the scoreboard is the only statistic that matters.

Hurts has led the Eagles to a 2-0 start to the season in a strong NFC East Division. Three teams are sitting on back-to-back wins, with the Cowboys and the Commanders all off to perfect starts.

The Eagles opened their campaign with a solid 25-20 win away to the Patriots in week 1 before 34-28 victory over the Vikings, at home.

“When did winning not become the main thing?” Hurts told reporters in response to criticism that defences are starting to work out his gameplan.

“What I am telling you is it’s not about me; it’s about us. There are multiple ways to win,” he added.

Few could argue with a winning QB despite 250 yards of cumulative rushing.

“Keep the main thing where winning is the only thing that truly matters,” he said.

The Eagles take on the Buccaneers (2-0) in week 3 away from home, and a win against the unbeaten Tampa Bay team will put Philly fans in their place, at least for now.

Hurts was picked 53rd overall in the 2020 draft and has worked his way into the starting QB position, earning a Pro-Bowl place last season as well as the Bert Bell Award.

Hurts led the team to a Superbowl appearance last campaign, where they narrowly lost to the Chiefs 38-35.

The Eagles finished last season with a 14-3 record, tied first in the league and while the Philadelphia fans are perhaps a little greedy, they must realize that a win is a win, is a win.
