On Saturday night the game played between the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates saw each team setting a record of their own.

After three innings, the Reds were up 9-0, but they ultimately fell 13-12. The Cincinnati Reds suffered a devastating loss, and as a result, they are currently 2.5 games down in the National League wild-card race.

According to ESPN, Stats and Info, “The Pirates trailed the Reds 9-0 before coming back to win 13-12”

“The 9-run comeback marks the largest deficit overcome in a win in Pirates history. For the Reds, it’s tied for the largest blown lead in a loss in franchise history”

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder, Bryan Reynolds concluded a home run with three RBI’s. Alfonso Rivas had five RBI and Ji Hwan Bae had 3 RBI’s as well.

With the setback, the Reds now trail the Chicago Cubs by 2.5 games for the last Wild Card slot and the Miami Marlins by 1.5 games for the first team out.

Followers of the fall on social media expressed outrage at it and requested action to stop a repeat of such a loss.

The Reds still have a chance to make the playoffs under the current situation, but it will be difficult. There are still six games left on Cincinnati’s schedule.
