Two weeks of Dallas Cowboys dominance came to a stunning end in Week 3.
After starting the season with impressive victories, the Cowboys faced a harsh reality in their 28-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
“Y’all put us on top of the world,” said Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott, who was 25 of 40 for 249 yards, a touchdown and a critical interception.
“We knew who we are. In that same sense, I’m sure the media got what it wanted. For us, there hadn’t been but one undefeated team. It sucks, it’s humbling, but to say it’s a wake-up call, we knew we had a lot of adversity and we just didn’t get it done. It just goes back to myself, the offense, in the red zone. We get better there, we win this game. But we’ve got to fix that area, period.”

It was a disappointing performance as the Cowboys struggled in the red zone, converting only 1 out of 5 opportunities. The game also highlighted various other concerning statistics for Dallas.
Despite running 75 plays compared to the Cardinals’ 53, the Cowboys fell short by 12 points.
Surprisingly, they won the time of possession battle by more than nine minutes and their defense allowed a staggering 400 yards of offense to Arizona, far more than the combined 386 yards allowed in their first two games.
On top of that, Dallas committed a troubling total of 13 penalties, resulting in 107 yards.
The most obvious factor in the Cowboys’ downfall was their previous dominance against the New York Giants and New York Jets, winning by a combined score of 70-10.
