Last April, the Chargers made a strategic move by selecting Quentin Johnston, a talented wide receiver from TCU, using their first-round pick. The selection of Johnston marked the first time in six years that the Chargers used their first-round pick to acquire a wide receiver.
According to the latest report from league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, it is feared that Mike Williams, the talented wide receiver of the Los Angeles Chargers, has suffered a severe knee injury that could potentially seat him out for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.
“He’s going to have an MRI today, but the fear is that Mike Williams did suffer a significant, potentially season-ending knee injury,” Rapoport said on the NFL Network on Monday morning. “No one will confirm until after the MRI but certainly there is real fear here that he could be lost for the season.”

“They drafted Quentin Johnson, perhaps he can step into that role,” Rapoport said.
The #Chargers drafted WR Quentin Johnston in the first round, and if the MRI shows that Mike Williams is out for a significant amount of time (potentially the season), Johnston will be called upon much earlier than anticipated. https://t.co/FlfBNCh0WA

With Williams potentially sidelined, the Chargers’ offense will need to find alternative options to fill the void. The burden might now fall on other receivers, such as Keenan Allen and Jalen Guyton, to step up and take on bigger roles.
