The New York Jets are visibly frustrated. The reason? The team’s been experiencing a string of setbacks, with their offense struggling under the leadership of Zach Wilson. During the Jets’ match against the Patriots, running back Michael Carter was caught, having a heated argument with his running backs coach, on camera.
Oh my god. #Jets RB Michael Carter getting in the face of his coach…
It’s getting BAD in New York.

In the second half of the game, Carter, who occupies the third spot on the depth chart behind Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook, was observed shouting directly at coach Taylor Embree. Embree decided to walk away from the confrontation, but Carter attempted to pursue him. Teammates Xavier Gipson and Justin Hardee stepped in to intervene, as captured on the CBS television broadcast.
The altercation between Carter and Embree might have been triggered by an earlier play where Carter was knocked down by blitzing Patriots’ safety Kyle Dugger. However, it is likely that Carter’s frustration was a broader response to the overall underperformance of an offense that was expected to be a team strength.
“We’re good. I love where we’re at. Zach Wilson commands the huddle & makes plays. It’s not a one man show. Football is the ultimate team sport for a reason, & we’ve got to help him out.- Michael Carter#Jets

With Aaron Rodgers sidelined due to an Achilles injury, there was speculation about whether the Jets would seek alternative quarterback options. Ultimately, the clear vote came out in favour of Zach Wilson. That being said, the season’s first two weeks have been deeply disappointing. Carter’s outburst echoes the mounting frustration within the team.
Public confrontations between players and coaches are never a positive development and can be indicative of larger issues within the team.
